From almost the time we arrived in Austin, on our move from Wisconsin, we were privileged to know Benard and Cece, both as neighbors, as suppliers of a son to our car pool, as gracious and generous hosts at a wedding and a Bar Mitvah, and as people who made Austin such a warm and welcoming place. One of the pleasures of going to Benold's over many years was the opportunity to exchange a word or two with one or both of this wonderful couple, and we shall miss them. We were out of town when Benard left this life, but he and Cece will live in our hearts for the rest of our lives.

I'm a close friend of his son Alan, an impressive guy with tons of character and an excellent sense of humor. On the few occasions I was fortunate enough to meet Benard, I could see where Alan's qualities originated.
Benard and Cece were friends of our family for over 60 years. My siblings and I grew up playing with the Laves children and knowing their parents. Benard represented decency, kindness and fairness. He was truly a 'mensch' in every sense of the word. Sincerest condolences, Gary Goodfriend
