Carter Hunt

Wednesday, August 21, 2013
It was a honor to get to know Mr. Hunt as I interviewed him for the Fort Smith Historical Society oral history project. He was sharp and funny and kind. I saw him not long ago and was complaining about my aches and pains and he said he wished he was 90 again. What a guy....what a life!

Please accept my condolences in the passing of Carter. I knew him through our Noon Civics luncheons. He was a fine gentleman, and a big asset to our community. Sincerely, Fred Stecher

Carter was generous with his time and gifts to Fort Smith. I always enjoyed visiting with him at Fort Smith Symphony and Fort Smith Public Library events.

Carter may have been from California but he conducted himself like a Southern Gentleman. The citizens of Fort Smith were fortunate to have Carter Hunt as one of our own for over 30 years. He was a respected community leader and a generous benefactor to many causes.
