Our sympathies to you all as we recall the many wonderful years spent with you at First Pres in Fort Smith. The Koenig family always thought the best of your family. Love in Christ, Gretchen (Koenig) and Louis Jacks

Charlie was one of the most delightful persons I have ever known, and I felt an emotional jolt on reading the obit in the Fort Smith paper. From the time I first met Charlie and extending through many years playing tennis and otherwise socializing with him, I always had a deep affection for Charlie. We tangled verbally and emotionally - if not physically - with one another three or four times per week for three or four decades on the tennis court, but those were fun times, and we both thoroughly enjoyed the relationship and the experience. Indeed, we were very much like brothers, and I am sure Charlie felt much the same way toward me. Although I know the two of you had compelling reasons for doing so, I was sorry that you (Helen) and he departed Fort Smith. By that time, however, the ardor of both of us for tennis had substantially waned, and we were seeing much less of one another. Yet the memories remain, and they are heart warming ones. Lorna and I both loved Charlie, and it leaves a lump in our throats to realize that he is no longer "in the game." We hope that you are well, and we extend to you, Becky, Jennifer, Janet and Helen our love and best wishes.
