Charles "Charlie" Julius Helgren
My Uncle Charlie always made me feel special and loved. Even though we didn't see him much growing up I knew he was a sweet and happy man who loved his family. In reading all of these wonderful words I realize what an amazing teacher he was an the impact he had on the lives of many. God Bless. Julie Helgren Podewitz
Uncle Charlie was such a sweet man. When I think of him, I think of him laughing or smiling. My father always said he was the best brother he could ever have hoped for. He was a wonderful uncle, too. After hearing all the nice things about him Sunday night, all I can say is everybody loved Charlie. God bless you, Uncle Charlie. Rest in eternal peace.
My prayers and sympathy to the family and students of Chuck Helgren. A "cool dude". He never failed to make me laugh. Lu Anne Clark - an LCC biology friend.
Charlie Helgren is a character in my life who I will never forget. Growing up I spent much time at the Helgren home. Charlie always greeted me the same way each and every time I saw him. With a warm smile and friendly tone he would say "Well hello Jimmy Pease all over the place", an obvious play on my last name. It was not delivered to ridicule, but to have fun with his son's friend. It never offended me and I came to expect it and looked forward to it. I would have thought something was wrong if he DIDN'T do it. Having not seen Charlie since High School graduation, I happened to encounter him at a local supermarket when I was probably about 25 yrs old. Upon seeing me there he immediately and warmly said "Well hello Jimmy Pease all over the place". It made me laugh then and still does. I have thought of this many times in the years since, and tell the story to others on occasion. I will always remember Charlie Helgren fondly, and my condolences go out to the Helgren family.
Charlie was a wonderful man and excellent teacher. It was a privilege to teach with him all his years at EVERETT. My thoughts and prayers are with family and friends as you experience this loss.
