"Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord, for their works will follow them."

My grandfather was the example that I needed in my life. It took a lot to raise me and the example my grandfather set was a huge part of it. The word gentle continually is brought up to describe him and it is absolutely accurate, but he was also firm in letting you know what was needed or expected. I remember clearly one day at Golden Corral, I was acting like a brat and he looked me in the eye and let me know. That example stays with me to remind me to improve my attitude. Another example is the time he told me about putting a student against the wall who was causing harm to teachers and other students. He seemed to greet everyone he met with that gentle, loving spirit until you proved to him that you needed that sternness. It was this sternness that came out when it was needed and a quick return to that gentle spirit almost immediately after the message was conveyed.

It is his example of what a man was supposed to be that will follow him in every student that he taught, in their children, and in their grandchildren, and especially in my life that will follow me for the rest of my days.

Darwin is one of the best of the best. I always enjoyed our time talking at the reunions. And to see how he lit up when he and my brother started talking about radios, flying and engineering. Our love to your family.

Darwin, I'm writing this during your funeral service. You were a "
Wonderful Brother-In-Law", always there for anyone who needed you. You were always totally devoted to my sister and your children. I must have been close to five years old when you and Betty were married. You told me stories about crawling up into your lap when the two of you were dating. I can't remember this world without you and you will be missed. Be with Our Lord.
