I did not know Commander Forrester, however in reading he DDN, I read his amazing WWII history. What a remarkable person. I wish I would have met him! My father was a retired Air Force Major and he was also a flight instructor. He was MATS!
My thoughts and prayers go to the family and friends. Most of all, I would like to say: "Thank you, Commander Forrester, for serving our great nation. RIP sir"

Dave was a wonderful friend to my father, Edgar Robbins. They lived in the same neighborhood in Black Oak then both moved to St. Leonard, and their friendship continued. I will always remember Dave's sense of humor and stories. His service to our country was admirable. He was truly part of the "Greatest Generation." Mary Jo Bailey (Centerville, OH)

David Forrester was my uncle and an influential person in my life. My mother and father and I visited Dave and Viola in Key West around 1950 and I had a great time. Dave was a natural teacher, and took a lot of time with me, explaining topics from physics to fish. I had not encountered such intelligence and such a desire to share and teach before that visit, and it was a life-long influence strengthened by visits Viola and Dave made to my mother and our family. My mother was Viola's older sister.
I attended their wedding-- the groomsmen wore Navy dress uniforms and swords, and conveyed the best kind of dedication. Most were World War II veterans, and there is reason to call them the greatest generation.
We are sorry to not attend the memorial service-- our hearts are with the family, and it is with the greatest respect that we remember Uncle Dave.

Dave, Sharon & Jim: Please accept my condolences on the passing of your Dad. Like others who wrote, I never knew about your father's accomplishments, which is evidence of a humble heart. I delighted in seeing him periodically in later years when he volunteered at the Air Force Museum. The legacy of your Dad and Mom will continue in the lives of you and your family. May God richly bless you and comfort you at this time. In CHRIST, Rich & Sylvia Anglin
