Eleanor Dorothy Gilchrist (Eperson)
miss eperson was my grade 2 teacher.. only 15 years older than her class.. when she became mrs gilchrist we were all giggly and excited as we were now old enough to know what a wedding was for.. God bless you all.. I am so glad jack and eleanor were happy for all that time and had lovely children and grand children.. as ever.. helene macrae.. xoxoxo
Last weekend I stopped in Port Alberni on my way to Tofino to visit an old friend. He asked if I knew a Mrs. Gilchrist who was a teacher in Ocean Falls. I did. She was my first grade teacher in 1954-55 and was the benchmark I used for my teachers every year. All through school Mrs. Gilchrist remained "my favorite teacher". She had been my older brother's teacher as well, but was Miss Eperson then. I may not have seen her since she left Ocean Falls, but I've never forgotten her.
Dear Jack and Family...
I have many fond memories of spending time with you and Eleanor over the years, both in Oceans Falls during our younger years, and later on the island. My thoughts are with you.
