I had the privilege of meeting Betsy through my work at UGA's Hodgson School of Music. It was always a delight to visit with her and listen to her many stories from past adventures. She had a very sharp mind and quick wit. It was a real honor knowing her and meeting members of her extended family. She will certainly be missed here on campus and throughout the Athens community.
Betsy was a fiber artist; her guest bedroom held a loom and with her patience many people learned to love to knit. She was generous, perceptive and kind. She was loved by her family and friends, of which there were many. She touched many, many lives and enriched them all.
Betsy's flowers will always hold a dear place in my heart. She was a very special person.
Betsy Powell was a special lady and her death is a big loss to our community, and to Learning Ally, formerly Recording for the Blind & Dyslexic.
I had the honor of visiting with her a couple of years ago and was very impressed with her accomplishments and vigor. She was an entertaining and unique person.
Our most sincere sympathies and condolences to her family.
God keep you and thanks for all you did for me and my beginning career at UGA
