Beth and family, I have been so saddened all week at your mother's (and grandmother's) passing away. You've been in my thoughts every day. Joe and I remember several fun occasions in Tucson with Esther and Seymour--Thanksgivings on your back patio, lively evenings eating Mexican food. And I recall many, many conversations with Beth and Mondi about your wonderful visits to New York with Esther. In high school years, Elizabeth was very kindly invited by your parents to join in one of those trips back east. Your mother was a bright and strong presence who graced the world. I will miss her very much. Stay strong, and remember you have so many friends who loved your mom and love you guys, and who will be there--as needed--during the difficult months ahead.
Dear Beth and Farzad and Mandana: Peggy and Read and Elizabeth and I are so sorry for this hard loss. We will miss Esther and her bright smile and quick wit and wonderful company. We are grateful to have known her and to be included in your family. With all our love --
Beth, Abbe, Amy, I am so sorry and sad. Every future Thanksgiving will bring back fond memories of the Thanksgiving family reunion (of which Esther ruled) and the laughter and stories will remain with us forever.
Amy, I am so sorry to learn of your mother's passing. Esther's strong and loving presence will remain with all of us whose lives she touched. My mother and I will be with you in spirit.
Dear Beth, Abbe and Amy: My deepest sympathies at the passing of your mother. I will miss Esther and treasure my recent Skype conversation with her, as it was full of love, humor and compassion. I hope that in your grief you feel the love of your family and friends enveloping you throughout this time.
