Gee papa bear where do I start its been a year since your passing. Its been a long sad and solem year. I love you so much and I really could not deal with your death.
Too many tears to finish a memorial for you. I think of you every day.
You were the dad that I never had, just to sit and talk about life.
You loved me good or worse.
You made so many people feel loved.
As I sat at aunties birthday, we were supposed to go togeather as a family with our dad. We did go and I know that you were there in spirit.
I just hope that I may live my life that I will see you again and that you will be happy.
I cant tell you how you were an example for all of us.
I know that you were tired and deserved a rest.
Papa Bear if there is any person on this earth that I admired and love with the deepest of feelings of a dad it is you.
Your example will always be with us.
God be with until we meet again.

Your loving daughter

It's hard to believe it has been a year since you left us. There are very few days that go by that a thought of you does not transit my mind. I know that Judie from time to time will tear up with thoughts of you. Words can never explain the true feelings that one has for another. Especially those of a son to a father. I still remember that it was 50 years before I ever saw a tear come from your eyes, but deep down I always knew that you had a strong love for family. Your influence in my life has made a strong impression in the way I live day to day and I hope and pray I can leave the same impression on my children and grand children as you have. I miss your terribly but I know you are always near. I long for the day that I will see you again. Your memory will never die in my heart and mind. Until we meet again pop I will always be Semper Paratus!!!

Love you man,

Papa Bear I love you and you always be in my heart. There are times in our lives when we are truly blessed to be given the opportunity to become friends with an Amazing Person and I did and I get to call him my Grandpa "Papa Bear". I know that you are with our Father in Heaven and you are smiling down upon us. You now get to watch your Children, Grand Children and Great Grand Children continue to grow and prosper and what a wonderful blessing this. You truly broke the mold Papa Bear and I am Privileged to be your Grand Daughter. Love always, The Dixon Family (Mike, Tara, Caleb and Gracie)

I always called you Gene, but to everyone else, I called you my Dad, “the Saint”. You touched my life in a way that is difficult to put into words. My heart is heavy with sadness. I loved you and will miss you more than you will ever know. Your daily emails of political antidotes or just a note to say, "Girl, you WILL survive the life of your teenagers”, were a bright spot in my day. You are the most patient man I have ever met. That trait of patience came in handy when you fell in love with my mother. Another thing both Bobbie Jo, Debbie, and I will be forever thankful for. You loved her unconditionally and we never had to worry about her, because you were there taking care of her every need and desire. I can only hope that I grow old with such a selfless soul and a true gentleman, in every sense of the word. You were so many things to so many people…… To me, you will always be my Dad, “the Saint”. I love you and miss you.
