Dear DeVries family,
I am sorry for your loss. May your Mother rest in peace.
with prayers, Norma Jean Fordyce
I am so sorry to hear of the passing of your Mother, Lee. Thoughts & prayers for all of you. May your cherished memories make you smile & lift your hearts.
After more than 100 years it's hard to put into words the many memories you savor, but here are a few that have come to mind over the last few days.
- pansies had monkey faces
-a carpet of daffodils down the lane, picking bundles and changing their color by putting them in colored water
-cut out cookies, frosted to perfection for each holiday, scalloped edge hearts, jumping bunnies, bells and Santa's always individually wrapped and sent to wherever I was in a greeting card box, so that I would have some home for the holiday.
-Hot cross buns at Easter, oh how I wish I had that recipe.
-Easter eggs dyed to perfection.
-Homemade pickles at every meal and always the one with the tail was for me.
-German Chocolate cake for my birthday
-hard candies and midget Hershey bars, you had to take a few before you went
-Lifesaver books at Christmas, the butter run was eaten first, never did eat the five flavors
-recipes sent through the mail, she shared from church socials
-how she enjoyed her music so much, she would light up when we got her to play the piano for us
-aprons freshly ironed
-sitting down to a meal that you passed and took time over, everything made special
- two dollar bills
These are a few of my favorite things, tied up with string and stored in my heart.
Offering our deepest condolences during this difficult time.
