Reinauer Bros. Motor Company - fond memories. My husband and I married in 1958; he worked in service. I was "the baby"; 20 years old, newly married, country girl came to the big city. Back then a couple of times a month the motor company "family" would meet at Lake Carl Blackwell for an outing. Mr. Johnny supplied the hamburger meat and hot dogs; we'd take grills, cook out, boat, water ski. A good time for all.

Franklin R and my husband Don decided I should learn to water ski; never mind that I couldn't swim a lick and didn't like water over my head. I tried and tried. Buddy had been watching this whole "process"; he came over, said something to Franklin and Don; they left. Then with that big grin and a hug he said "I'm going to teach you to ski. Instructions and then, "I'm going to be behind you on the skis; when you're up and have your balance I'll bail off and you'll ski around the lake. I DID. He met me, gave me a grin and a hug "now, do you want to do it again"?

I looked him straight in the eyes and said "I'll NEVER ski again, I promise".

Every time we met afterwards, even after the motor company was sold, the big grin, a hug and "been water skiing lately?" Nope - made you a promise.

I have kept that promise for 56 years.

He was truly one of a kind.

Blessings for you, his family.

We had an amazing friend, mentor, father-figure, and all-around genuine blessing in our lives...our beloved Buddy Reinauer. He taught me so many lessons about how to be a leader, be gracious, and pass-it-on. I wish only to be a fraction of the human being that mirrored in his every day life. God bless him and all of his wonderful family!

I loved how he re-named everyone. I was Roser, Judy was Judith Ann and Glenda Montiel was the liar. That was if he could remember our names, he would call roll, usually starting with calling us Wilma then Sheri and name at least 4 others and ending with the dogs name.

Love ya Buddy, the world won't be the same without you.

I am an OMA alumni and noticed his OBIT in the paper this morning. I am from the Class of 1955 but wanted to say how proud we were of Fred. I am sorry for your loss.
