You were so loved and will be missed. I met you when I was 7. You were so kind to 2 little girls. Our paths continued to cross my lovely ftiend.
Gary was a terrific guy. I was so surprised, and so sad, to hear of his passing! I always thought of him as a true professional, ethical to the end. When I was Mayor in Clive, we brought Gary back to the city to be the "acting Manager." This, while we conducted a search for a that position.
Thanks to Gary's help (and Snyder's) things went great with the city while he filled in. We hired a guy who is still the Manager in Clive, Dennis Henderson.
Having Gary back for those months was terrific. He had a great sense of humor and I got to ride him about his inability to catch a doubleheader, back to back, because he was simply not athletic enough! Of course, he was. That he could catch one game, at all, was an inspiration to me and many others! As were many other aspects of his personality.
Bon voyage, my friend. Remember, when you bat from the left side, you're two steps closer to first. But when you knock it out of the park, you don't have to worry about that...
I remember gary as a great friend and cousin. We spent a great summer together back when he lived in Lake Park. He had a car that showed what gas mileage he was getting as he drove down the road. He knew how many times Bill Whithers sang I know I know... His smile was what I remember the most. Never kept in touch. Sorry.
Gary was a very close friend to my father Dennis Snyder (Snyder & Associates Inc. President from 1977-2001) who passed away on May 7th 2001. Gary spoke highly of my father at his funeral and I know my father would have done the same for Gary. They shared a wall between their offices as well as life. You could always find Gary and Dad discussing the days ups and downs and at the end of the day, enjoying a cigar in the back shop to close the day out. He was always a kind man and loved colleague to all of us. He will be greatly missed in my life as well as many others who had the chance to meet him. The Snyder family offers our sincere condolences to Gary's family and friends.
I met Gary when I was a volunteer and then city council member in the city of Clive when he was the City Manager. I also enjoyed working with him when he was with Clive's city engineer, Snyder & Associates. Gary was always such a friendly, caring and personable guy that everyone loved. I am so very sorry to hear about his passing…my thoughts and prayers are with his family and loved ones.
