I served as Gayle's counselor when she was Relief Society president in Capitol Hill First Ward. We also worked together in DUP and Utah Heritage Foundation.
I looked forward to going on the Balloon Fiesta Tour with Gayle in October. We will miss her on this trip, especially since it was her idea, but we will watch for Wendy's hamburgers to eat in her honor along the way!
Dear Liz, What a remarkable woman your mother was. I feel I have known her because I know you. Please accept our deepest sympathy.
Erin and I were indeed fortunate to have known Gayle for about seven years in the Capitol Hill 1st Ward. We always appreciated her cheerfulness and kindness and will keep those memories as treasures. To her children and family, we sympathize with the loss of your mother, but are so happy that she can finally join your Dad and other family members gone far too long for her liking. We're glad that her release was quick and hope you find comfort in the goodness and the legacy she leaves for you. May you have peace and comfort every time you remember your mother and grandmother.
Dana & Erin Simonsen,
I am deeply saddened to hear of the passing of your dear mother and my mentor and friend. I adored Gayle and am so honored to have worked with her at Truman Elementary as my co-teacher. She was truly a master educator. Hundreds of special education students have benefited from her structure, her direct instruction in math, reading, and writing, and above all, her kindness and love for each one of them. She took me under her wing when I began my career as a special education teacher a guided me though my first year. Her example was priceless. She was my hero. My love and prayers to you and your family Liz. May God lift you from the sadness of your loss with the knowledge that Gayle and Wooley, the two sweetest people on earth, are together again.
