My name is Robert Belew, when I was just a wet behind the ears kid, right out of basic training, I was assigned to the Trainee Personnel Division at Ft. Benning, GA. My First Sgt. sent me to report to SGM Comer. When I got there I was sent into the office of the most impressive NCO that I ever met in my short military career. He told me that there were 3 ways to do things around that office, the wrong way, the Army way and his Way and that the first would be a disaster, the second would be tough, and the third would work out pretty good for me. This man taught me more about respect and the Army than any training I ever received. I have a wonderful letter of recommendation that he prepared for me when I received my orders for Vietnam. He received orders to return to Korea at the same time and offered to request that I be diverted to Korea to work for him but told me Vietnam was better duty. The short time
that I knew him I just wanted to let his family know that he was a positive influence in my life and I have thought of him many times. RIP SGM Comer
Oh how I miss you today! February 4, 2014! It was 64 years ago we drove to Maryland and was married in a little Methodist Church! It seems like only yesterday. Loved you then, love you today and will through eternity! Until we meet again! Gladys
"That time will comfort you in the future. Keep sharing your memories! Love and prayers to you and your family!"
"My sweet Uncle Jerry looks so youthful in this photo. He never lost his good looks or sense of humor. He was frank, tough & wise & shared many great stories with us all during his lifetime. I am so honored to have grown up knowing him, learning so much from him & feeling his love for all of us. He will live on & on in our memories & laughter! Although we know where he is, we will miss him very much until that time we are all together again. Love & prayers!"
"So sorry for your loss. Sending prayers to you and your family that God may grace you with everlasting peace during this difficult time"
