What a joy and honor it has been to care for you and Grandma this past year. Just like when I was a young boy, you have poured into my life so many special lessons and images that will forever influence the man I am. Your stories of the beach of Omaha during WWII, fighting forward as you built bridges for General Patton. Your leadership at Rikes, beloved Santa Claus for 40 years, Voss Chevrolet and how you took any job and became once again a leader who demonstrated and expected excellence. Your hard work and care for your yard and how you taught me to make dirt so that everything you planted flourished. Most importantly your love for Grandma, how you tirelessly took care of her, and where so paitent and kind. Thank you for the love and care you have expressed toward each of us. My heart rejoiced when you turned to me and said, "Donnie, I became a Christian today", during one of the visits with the Chaplin. I look forward to being together for all of eternity, enjoying the endless love of God, and each other, in the beautiful garden of heaven, where I am sure you will be!
With all my heart and love,
