Ann & family, although I'm sad at Aunt Ida's passing, what a blessing it was to have here with us so long. Our prayers are with you.
Ann and Family,
I was so sorry to read of Ida's passing. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Ida was a wonderful friend. We shared many memories of Delta Kappa Gamma meetings and events. She was dedicated to her students and loved teaching. I cannot be with you on Monday but will be with you in remembering her.
To the Family of Ida Bender: I am so sorry for your loss. God promises to bring and end to sickness and death, and gives us the hope of seeing our loved ones again. May He provide you the comfort and support you need to sustain you at this difficult time.
My heart is sad at the news of Mrs. Bender's passing. There will be a void in this world because it but heaven is a better place today because of her entry. She was my librarian at Wilson School in Plant City. What a wonderful person to have in place to influence children's first years in school. I felt sorry for the librarians that came after her when I graduated from Wilson. No one ever measured up to Mrs. Bender. I always looked forward to my time with her in the library. She enjoyed helping me pick out books she knew I would enjoy reading and even read them to me sometimes. Several years ago I mailed her a note to just let her know how much she had influenced me through my childhood years and I'm so glad I did that. You never know how you've touched someone's life. She has touched many! She responded to my note by sending me one and that said "Thank You for taking the time to remember an old woman like me and making me feel so good." I remember one time a group of us volunteered to go in the library and help her and we found her crying. I walked up to her and asked her what was wrong. She had just noticed the diamond setting in her wedding ring was gone. She said "it can be anywhere - oh dear" - so we all became little detectives looking for her diamond. She had a row of filing cabinets in her working area and she felt it had to be in one of them because she had just been looking for something in them and remembered hitting her hand against one of them. She had looked through them but didn't find it. We all took a filing cabinet and started hunting and guess what? The diamond was in the filing cabinet I was going through. It just fell out when I was flipping through it. I squealed and she came running. I was holding it in my hand when she came around the corner. I thought she was going to break me in two she was hugging me so tightly. She was one of God's angels on earth for sure. She had a way of making children feel incredibly special. I know my brother, who she also taught, has already found her and is showing her all around heaven. She loved to hear his little jokes and how he made everyone laugh. I can see them now walking down those golden streets and Steve telling her the latest Heavenly news as only he can tell it. Both of them smiling walking hand in hand. I will not be able to attend the service and that saddens me because she was there for me at my brother's and father's service. I say to you Mrs. Bender - your time on this earth is over but life for you has really only just begun. For all of us you left here, tell everyone there we're on our way too. Thank you God for allowing the life of Mrs. Ida Bender to influence mine. I am a better woman for it. Love to you Ms. Ann and all the family. May God hold you all so very close at this time and bring comfort and peace to you now and in the days ahead.
