To all my family who put together the picture slide show,THANK YOU! I so loved looking at all the pictures. So much I've missed out on. Please just know I love you all and do think of you and grandma often.

I was lucky enough to be in one of Mrs. Van Gundy's classes my junior year and then to be an aide for her my senior year (1978). Her no nonsense approach to learning brought out the best in her students. We kept in touch for many years after graduation. She encouraged me to become a teacher myself, which I have happily been doing for nearly 30 years now. I will forever remember her with love and affection. Rest in peace, Mrs. Van Gundy.

. Irene was taken the evening after the Sandy Hook Elementary school children. Her granddaughter Anne said this: "The day Irene went home, Heaven truly needed another teacher." I thought this was so true. Such a wonderful teacher and friend. Truly we were priviledged to know her and be in her life many years. Our boys stated what a wonderful woman, friend and teacher she was also and wanted her family to know she meant alot to them. Thanks to her for all the help she gave whenever it was needed. You are an angel now and free to fly wherever you want. We'll always miss your humor, friendship and love. Blessing to all the families. Maxine, Gary, Greg and Mickey Bracken
