Jim and I were close friends back when I lived in East Lansing almost 20 years ago. He was the kindest, gentlest soul I've ever met. I've kept in touch with him through Christmas cards, letters and a call every 6 months or so. I'm so saddened to learn he is no longer with us. He will be missed. My deepest condolences to his family.

Worked literally back-to-back with him in a 20x20 office space in the WKAR Radio Quonset in 1962...what a blessing. I was a part-time student...he was a PRO.

In short, I agree with everything said here on this site. He was a sweet/classy guy.

I will always remember Jim for his contributions to MSU and for his friendly and understated demeanor. It was a pleasure to know him at WKAR and in the community. I often saw him walking...everywhere! He will be missed. Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time.

Andy & Mike,

Earle and I are so sorry to hear about the loss of your dad.

Earle & Jim worked together for many years at WKAR and recorded epic memories together. Earle has always spoken well of Jim and expressed the positive impact that Jim made upon his life and career.

As for myself, on any given day or at any given time, as I drove through MSU campus, I would often see Jim walking down Grand River Ave., or crossing a campus intersection, wearing his faithful green & white, carrying a sports magazine of sorts, cupped ever so gently in his hands... His stature, his stride, his poise and his humility, will forever be crafted in my thoughts. Jim was a walking textbook with a vat of information. He was always respectful, funny and very independent. May peace be with you & your families during this difficult time.

Sincerely,
