James Malcolm Burns

Jamie, Your Father was awesome! Always involved with youth. I remember well, the gladiator marching band and his contributions. This journey in our lives, is so very sad indeed. The Greatest Generation to live is fading, and I pray to God, America's young will never let their work and suffering, and their victories, be lost along generations. It was an honor to serve him, at appointments. Let's not forget, you, Jamie, were an awesome son, and your Father was so proud of you. Much love and God's blessings for you and your family.

Mr. Burns made a valuable contribution to the smooth running of the Northwest Georgia Talking Book Library. He spent hours each week diagnosing problems with cassette players that had been returned by our patrons, and he did not give up easily! He also generously contributed time to the Sara Hightower Regional library by arranging for himself and/or other Pioneers to make popcorn and man the monthly movie. He was very gracious and quite witty and we are really going to miss him!

To Jim's family I send my deepest regrets. Jim as most of the old Southern Bell workers knew him as, or Malcolm as the family calls him was always a gentleman. Thinking back I don't think of a time that I heard him argue or say anything bad about anyone. I remember at Christmas I would make chocolate
covered cherries for the girls in Assignment. Being an Engineer he was used to coming over to check the cable records- and have a couple of Choco, Covered Cherries. I never knew how he could just eat them like popcorn....tooooo sweet. His dedication to the Library and Talking Books will surly be missed.
He will forever be in the hearts of those who knew him...Linda Ledbetter
