My sympathies to the Swiggart family. I have been out of the country and missed being at the services. I worked for Judge Swiggart as his law clerk in 1978 and 1979. At that time, as the Reporter to the Judicial Commission, he was in charge of completing the first edition of the official Tennessee Civil Pattern Jury Instructions. He completed those Instructions and they were approved in 1979. That was a signature accomplishment since those instructions had been in process for many many years under prior leadership. Also at that time, he had volunteered to hear domestic cases one day a week in order to address a backlog of cases. Those cases were emotionally draining but he was so kind and patient in letting both sides tell their story. Likewise, he was very kind to me and so generous with sharing his insights. I am sorry for your loss. Jim DeLanis
My regrets to the family of Jim Swiggart whom I always considered a good friend. Don Hildebrand
Jimmy Swiggart was a good friend to my father and a great friend to my mother after she was widowed. My family will always remember his unselfish kindnesses.
