Jeannene, I came across this notice about Janis. I am so, so sorry for your loss. May God hold you and your family in his loving arms in the days ahead.
Janis was one of the most wonderful teachers I ever had. Her approach to teaching and children was amazing and I loved her spirit.
I was a classmate of Janis' older brother Jerry. Hr is a fine person and great friend. Here's wishing peace and comfort for the Simonton family.
I was blessed to know Janis as I was one of the ladies from Houston's First Baptist Church who led the sing along on Tuesday afternoons. We missed her last Tuesday and were so disappointed that she was not joining us , as she had started to respond to the music as never before . We had even purchased a new instrument just for Janis. Recently I felt that Janis was trying to tell me something and now I know what it was. I am 64 years old, and my first years of teaching were at Landrum Junior High School! What a small world . Although we will miss her terribly, I can see her now ... dancing in the arms of our Lord and Savior ,Jesus! I love you Sweet Janis and look forward to seeing you again one day. You blessed the lives of many.
Such happy memories of my 6th grade language arts teacher. I think it was her first year to teach. Never will forget her sharing Carole King's Tapestry and Elton John's Honkey Chateau with the class. An inspiring and beautiful teacher.
