It is with regret that I heard of Joel's passing. I knew Joel from the 9th grade at Willingham until we graduated in 1962. Not only were we classmates, but teammates on the football team. What a great friend from good only South Macon. If only I could have been a little bigger and taller, I might have been able to be as good a ballplayer as Joel. When we had our class reunions, I always got the chance to see him and speak to him. Joel will be missed by me and all his friends and family.
So sorry to hear about your loss. I met Joel in 66 as we were being inducted into the Army and we became good friends. May the lord wrap you in his loving arms and hold you close during these trying times. Lamar Boutwell
Tammy, my heartfelt prayers and sympathy are with you. Both of you loved each other dearly and that is a precious gift you will always cherish!

Tammy, Bob and I were so sorry to hear about your Dad. You are in our thoughts and prayers.

Joel Dickens was a great football player for Coach Henderson back in the early 60s and he helped lay the foundation for great teams that followed. He and Joe Swain coached some terrific teams at Agnes Barden and in Midget Football in Macon. May the Lord bring comfort to you - Joel's family.
