I can't express enough how grateful I am to have know John growing up. He helped me become the man I am. He was always there to lend an ear and to criticize when needed. He offered up opinions, he expressed he like and dislike and was always up for a debate on the hot topics of the day. He and I spent many hours splitting ump-teen cords of wood and he, even when Gayle was sick, wanted to see the football games, so I always brought him a tape to watch.

I have never seen a man more upset when he backed into my car and never more joyful when Gayle was able to get up again and walk around after her neck surgery.

I was very fortunate to talk to him a few weeks ago and for that I will be forever grateful.

I miss you John. You were a good man, a great listener, wonderful husband and a very very good friend.

I will cherish the time we had together and I will leave this with a simple... THANK YOU.

My fondest memories of Uncle John were of him as expert story teller. We'll miss you, Uncle John. We love you, Aunt Gayle.

John, I loved your photos, especially your early ones and the one of the "Wild West Gang"! You will be missed, more than you can now. Please keep the home fires burning for us; we will join you as the grace of God allows.

You were a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, mentor and coach. But we loved you most because you were our friend. You always had a kind word and a mischievous smile to greet us.

Gayle, we love you and pray for you and your family to have strength in the coming days. I know John is watching over all of you.
