I was good friends with Mr. Vollmerhausen's son Arthur in high school. Mr. Vollmerhausen was one of the nicest men I've ever known. He would always pick us up from movies, ball games, etc. It was always obvious how much he loved his family. Just a truly decent man. I feel lucky to have known him.

I am so sorry to hear of Johns passing, I worked with him in 103 and always admired him, a very cool headed fireman and a lot of fun to work with a prince among men...again, my condolences...Mike Weinberger (L-103 ret.)

I first met John, in early 1962, when I was a probationary FF. He was great guy then and just as great when we met years later on Union Ave. A gentleman and great Fire Officer. It was honor and pleasure to know you John. RIP.
