I served with Joe at the 12th Marine Corps District in San Francisco in the late sixties. He was a great Marine and good friend. I learned a lot from Joe. I happened to be going through a box of old pictures and found a picture of Joe and I playing ping pong (I believe it was for the Headquarters championship, which we won) and decided to do a google search and was saddened to find his obituary. But glad to see his beautiful family. I am sure he was a proud Father. I have thought of Joe and Rosemary many times in the last 45 years and I always smile with my memories.

There was never any doubt in my mind or heart that my dad loved me. He may have been a quiet man but I always knew how he felt. When he smiled it was like the sun shining. I miss him so much but I know he is with god looking down on all of us, some days shaking his head :-).

I never knew you Sgt Maj, but I drove past your funeral mass earlier today. When I saw the Marine Corps Honor Guard, I decided to search and find out who had passed. Rest in peace Devil Dog. Thank you for your service to this great nation. And may God bless your family and friends you left behind. Semper fi!! Sgt H....

On behalf of the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society, MCAS Yuma, I would like to offer my sincere condolences on the loss of your husband, Joeseph.
As you may know, the Navy-Marine Corp Relief Society is a private, non-profit, charitable, volunteer organization dedicated to serving Navy and Marine Corps members and their dependents, both active and retired with financial assistance in times of need. We have other non-financial programs as well that you might be interested in, ie: Visiting Nurse services.
The Society was founded in 1904 originally for the express purpose of assisting widows. We still do that and more. Please do not hesitate to call on us, we are here to help you.
I would like to take this opportunity to again offer our condolences and any assistance, financial or otherwise, to you during this difficult time. Our office is located aboard MCAS Yuma in building 645 and we are open 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. You are more than welcome to call me if I can answer any questions (928-269-2373.) The Arizona Department of Veteran's Services might also be of assistance, in Yuma, call 726-2851.
