Hello Van Syckle Family,

My father Fred Robinson was Glenn's cousin. He was the son of Teresa Schmidt, Marie Schmidt's sister. My dad lived with his grandparents Adam and Anna Schmidt and his Aunt Marie in Asbury Park after his mother died.

I grew up with a yellowed newspaper clipping about Glenn being shot down in WWII. He was a much revered hero among our family. I recently went through some old letters from our great grandmother written to my father telling him Glenn was going to join the army and she said he was a good boy.

I am so sorry about the loss of your father.

Dear Mrs. Van Syckle, Bob and the Van Syckle Family, My deepest condolences on the passing of Mr. Van Syckle. I regret not being able to make the wake or the funeral, but I was out of town on business. I remember Mr. Van Syckle very well from "back in the day" and spending time at Passaic Avenue (in your basement, in the yard, etc. ) He was a wonderful man. All good memories. I'm sure you can draw much comfort in knowing the kind of life he led and in your fond memories of him. I would love to reach out to you directly, but I don't have any contact information. So hopefully this reaches you. Warm regards, Tim Heine
