I am so sorry for your loss. Larry was my best friend for the first 13 years of my life when his family lived in the small town of Slater, Iowa. When they moved away, I really didn't know where they went and lost complete contact with him for all of these years. I have been searching on the internet and just came across this terrible news a couple of days ago. I so wished that I could have found him earlier so that we could have caught up on each others lives and families. Please accept my deepest condolences. Dear Tricia and Steve,
I share my son Vincent and family's expression of sympathy and sorrow for your irreparable loss. That he was a good Dad should be a lasting consolation to you, in much the same way his being a loving son bring comfort to his mother. That he now joins your own mother and his own father in their joyful anticipation should assuage your present grief. I offer my prayers for his eternal rest and for peace and calm in your hearts as days go by.
To all of those who were in and touched my Dad's life, I wanted to share with you the following letter. I read this letter to him three days before he left us.
Thank you for letting me take care of you
For you have taken care of me my whole life.
Thank you for all the kind things you've done
To count them would be like counting stars on a clear night.
Thank you for instilling the goodness in me,
For teaching me right from wrong.
It is through you that I've learned the meaning of kindness
And when needed, to put others before myself.
Thank you for the countless fun moments we share
When we laugh so hard it hurt.
I recall those moments even months, years later
They still bring me the joy of laughter.
With you I have seen so many places in the world
I am honored to be your travel companion.
Our adventures hold a special place in my heart
Each one will never be forgotten.
Thank you for teaching me to dream big
And to always set my goals high.
But more importantly to follow through
And the pride I discovered on the other side.
Thank you for letting me get to know you
Beyond the scope of a Dad.
Whether through long talks, or moments of silence
You seem to always know what's on my mind.
Thank you for being a wonderful father and role model
For some Dad's that might be enough.
But you always go the extra mile,
So Thank you for also being my friend.
You have always told me I am special
And though I heard those words I wasn't sure why.
But today please hear my words,
I am special because of You.
I know in my heart that we will find our way,
You, Mom, Steven and I, all together.
In a special place with family and friends that brings us joy,
Making new memories that will last forever.
Dearest Tricia and Steve,
We want to express our deepest sympathy and sorrow for your loss. We've had the chance to meet with your Dad very briefly in Manhattan, sometime in June of 2010. But somehow, through Tricia's narratives, we seem to have known him much longer.
Bundled up in blankets in low 40s weather, some 10,000 feet above Mount Haleakala in Maui, we gingerly awaited sunrise. Clouds enveloped our feet, and buffeting winds pierced the early morning silence. Then, slowly, the sun peered from the horizon and clothed us all in bright, shimmering light, dispelling the darkness and casting the cold air aside.
That imagery came to mind when we learned of your Dad's demise. Our Christian faith consoles us in the belief that he is in a better place with your Mom.
We offer our prayers for the eternal repose of his soul, and look forward to joining you both in celebrating your Dad's memory in the near future.
With much love and affection,
Vincent, Maria, JEd, Rorie, Mark, and Lily
Dear Tricia and Steve, I want you both to know how much you are in my prayers. I have thought of you so much and remembered of those Openwood Days so many years ago. Your dad and mom were the best parents and always were there for all your activities. They loved you dearly and it showed in the pride they had for you. Hold tight to the memories and they will get you through the sad times. I love you and am praying for you today and all the days to come. Love, Linda Bryant
