Elizabeth you have my deepest sympathy in the loss of your mother. There is nothing like a mothers love. God makes no mistake you had her for a while God needed her for eternity. Know that all her pain is no longer. May see rest in peace.
Lebby and I shared many happy times in our years at Lander. She was a lovely person, always with a smile and kind words, and a true friend. May memories of your family's good times together comfort you during this time of sadness.
I worked with Lebby for 10 years at the GPL and will always be grateful for the advice and wonderful stories that she shared with me. She was a kind lady with a big heart! She will be truly missed.
Lebby was a compassionate and kind person to everyone she met. I had the privilege to know her as a colleague and personal friend. She gave the full measure of service, well beyond the call of duty, giving professional and generous service to each library patron until their needs were fully met. Often I saw her return to the desk, laden with an armful of books to make sure the patron had all the information they required. She was also personally sympathetic to patrons in distress. I once saw her spend several hours telephoning around the city to find a homeless person a bed for the night on a bitterly cold night; this was typical of her compassionate nature. She was also a mother figure to others' children, including mine, as well as her own. She spared no effort to enhance the joy of children on special holidays, or just a backyard picnic. She was a joy to be around and I am privileged to have known her. Her selfless generosity of spirit and professionalism made her an inspiration to friends, colleagues and acquaintances alike.
