Leonard Gus Baer

Leonard was one of my most wonderful and favorite cousins. I have wonderful memories of him and my mother, Dorothy Fisher Sattgast, during Oster family reunions when I was a kid. Leonard helped get me a summer job at American Fine Foods when I was in high school. He was one of the last survivors of the USS Chicago, that went down during WWII in the South Pacific. I am fortunate to be a part of this family and have wonderful memories of Leonard, Aunt Leondina and Uncle Ferdinand, God bless you, Leonard.

Leonard was a delightful, kind man. I enjoyed visiting with him & Joyce at various Payette functions. I really enjoyed viewing Leonard's Photo Gallery on the S/J website. The Baer & Ahrens families were good friends when we all lived North of Payette. Ferdinand & Leondina were such special neighbors, as were Leondina's brother Vinny & Esther Oster. My brother "Skeeter", aka Norman Ahrens says he knew Harold best. I've enjoyed visiting with Harold & his buddy, Glen Crosby at area functions. I didn't realize until I read Leonard's obituary that his son Kenny was in my sister Pam Ahrens' PHS class of '65. Ralph Oster was my eldest brother Bob Ahrens/Sterner's buddy.

It's good that Joyce & Leonard enjoyed each other's company in their twilight years. Leonard couldn't hear very well, but he always had a big smile on his face & a warm hug whenever I saw him. Joyce, Kenny and the rest of his family will treasure their memories of this wonderful man.

With heartfelt sympathy, the Oster-Fenicottero Family thoughts and prayers are with all of you. We pray for family and friends to comfort you, faith to uphold you, and loving memories to carry you through. I have the greatest memories of Leonard, always with a huge smile, a huge "Baer" hug and kind friendly words. My Grandpa W.E.Oster and Leondina Baer were brother and sister. Leonard and my father Ralph W. Oster were cousins. Those family reunions and family occasions were cherished memories for me.
