Dear Paula, Robin and Susan:
I just heard yesterday of the sad news of your mother and want to extend my sincerest sympathy to all of you. She and I kept in touch mainly at Christmas and occasional phone calls and I remember how pleased she was to receive a picture I sent her that showed her mother's family when your grandmother was a very young girl. I lost conntact when my Christmas card was returned and I had no way of contacting you. I have many happy memories of your mother, your grandparents, your Uncle Gordon and also the three of you when you visited your Aunt Lou's cottage on Shadow Lake.
Please know that I am thinking of you and send my very warmest regards.

The service for your Mom was wonderful and very emotional being there with my cousin Helen sure brought back great memories. To think that our Grandmothers were best friends for life. My Mother (Ida) being named after your Grandmother and my sister (Rosemary) being named after your Great Grandmother. My earliest memories of you all are my Gram telling us that Lera was coming to the cottage with the girls...I do not even think she parked the car before you bolted out. We are family as our Gram did marry your Great Uncle Austin. I also wanted to thank you for including photos of my brother John and my Mom in the memory book. Sending big hugs to you all.

Lera frequently visited the Soo on many occasions to visit with the McCracken clan and her sense of humour and zest for life was always apparent.Hopefully the fond memories with your Mom will sustain you all in the difficult days ahead.
