Precious memories we do recall in times of stress and strife
Heartstrings bringing families close, binding them for life
A loved one lost, much sorrow brings and tears that fall as rain
We now contemplate your empty space with sadness and disdain.

Songs from our hearts spring forth in laughter and also tears
As gentle arms enfold us releasing some of our pains and fears
Familiar is our family for they understand our flaws
We share a set if genes from either mother or papa's

Families are sometimes adopted in because they suit our needs
Not always is it necessary to share a common seed
Families are a mix of love and memories from which to draw upon and share
Customs, quirks, idiosyncrasies, dislikes and likes or cares.

Families and the offspring are extensions of ourselves
Our homes, a place of comfort, where comfort is a staple upon the shelves
Our place to draw our strength from, when we ready to greet the world
Or simply a place of shelter from the entrapments of the world.

When end of day draws nearer, and the work day comes to a close;
Having people who care, and love you, alleviates many of our woes.
We are strengthened in the knowledge that familial love is unconditional
Deep rooted ties, in Our family tree, is my reason to feel emotional.

Rest in peace Granny, you've earned that rest;
To make you proud, I'll try my best
And treat with forgiveness and civility those who've done me wrong.
Because that's what you've shown me to do forever, and for so long.

You were my inspiration, our anchor and strength for 90 years
May we remember you fondly as we strive to slow our tears
In Heaven our Mom is waiting; for its been more than fifteen years
She waits to hug her mom and caress away her tears

Please hug my mamma for us girls, now that your earthly life has drained.
And tell her that we miss her so; but on earth, we must remain.
Tell mom about the grandkids that she never got to meet
Tell her that we're doing fine and that we try to remain sweet.

You're drawing closer to The Lord and your memory may someday fade
You've left a cavernous-sized hole in my heart on your journey to the grave
We were not rich, I've heard you boast but we make pretty babies
It warms my heart to mention this to my friends, gentlemen and ladies

You oft repeated that if you've nothing good to say, ... say nothing at all
You chose your words carefully and you were quiet, if correctly, I recall.
You walked upright and honest. You worked two full-time jobs at once
I now understand your disposition, my dearest Granny Grumps.

Yes, we uttered this among ourselves when we were very small
But we loved you dearly and with all our hearts because you're the greatest gran of all
I know you knew we loved you and you loved us ever true
For nobody gave better hugs than cuddly, loving you.

Lovingly remembered

well Gran this isn't the end it's just the begining. You have a new journey that is one you will make on your own with other loved ones that have moved on waiting to meet you at the other end. I'll cherish every moment we spent together talking or working with or without mom at our side ,she was a big part of your life and therefore you became one of the biggest parts of mine too. I remember you telling me that you told Herb you would always keep me safe and you have. You were always there for me no matter what was going on in your life and i love you so much for that there are so many memories i could share but that would take forever lol.Your door was always open to all of us and like u said we may not have much but we'll always have a meal God willing and boundless love . You taught us all how to love unconditionnally and to beleive in ourselves. How to forgive when we thought there wasn't anyway we could. You always offered us a shoulder to cry on and a ear that would listen. You've loved us all equally and for that there is no words but right now from where you are you will know that all the love i showed you or missed showing you was always from the heart and will always be with you while on your new journey. I LOVE YOU AS BIG AS THE UNIVERSE AND BEYOND .Id say rest well Gran but you have much catching up to do with all who have gone before you .Till we meet again and i'm sure we will send my love to them for me XOXO

Grandmother, I wrote you a poem and I know you were all about choosing cards with just the right verse for whoever you sent them too. I have two in particular that I cannot part with because they spoke directly to my heart and they are forever etched on my soul where only the good is allowed to remain.

I could say more but Christopher has so eloquently expressed so many of my thoughts that I will simply attach the poem honouring your passing.
Here's my tribute:

I remember the times we worked together, laughed together, cried together, shared a meal together and all the love and prayers you showered our family with. You touched the lives of more people than you ever knew - just by being you. You will live on in our hearts forever!
