I met Elmo,or Mr. Smith as I called him, when I was 10 or 11 years old he was my best friends (Bruce) dad. I remember him being strict but very gentle, and kind. God bless the family of Mr. Smith.

I met Elmo for the first time at his sister Joyce Robbins 80th birthday bash. I live with his nephew Richard Robbins. Elmo was so kind and sweet and accepted me right from the start. the first thing he said to me was "Welcome to the family". We sat in Joyce's living room with all the brothers and sisters and spouses and they all were recalling childhood memories. It was the most fun listening and laughing along with them to thier stories, and Elmo had quite a few to tell. It was a pleasure and an honor to know him, I will never forget him.

Elmo is a treasure...a decorated and honored WWII warrior and a highly respected member of America's "Greatest Generation." He was a blessed
patriarch of a God-fearing and highly respected family. His compassion for
and loyalty to his family is an example for others to follow. Elmo is adored and highly respected by his children and grand children. His son, Bruce, and our daughter, Debby, have three sons whose love and respect for their beloved Grandpa could never be measured. He was a devoted Christian ambassador to his city and community, and a beloved and trusted friend. As an articulate and highly talented spiritual counselor and devoted bible teacher at his church, he earned the respect, confidence, and trust from his brothers and sisters there; but, he also had a unique way of inspiring everyone with whom he came in contact. Jackie, my wife, and I, were two of those people. My strongest perception and memory of Elmo will always be that his Lord, Jesus, Christ was his life and light...His wife and children were his motivation and his greatest source of encouragement. Elmo was authentic, he was pure and just in his convictions, and he was a God-fearing man that Jackie and I will always love and admire...a role model for all believers. We will always treasure our time on earth with Elmo.
