A great resident of Newton, MA passed on recently. We in Customer Service and the Water Billing Office at Newton City Hall fondly remember Louise Levingston who occasionally visited us. Along with her concerns, she always had a story or more to tell. One story in particular that fascinated was that Levingston Cove at Crystal Lake was named after her. We will always think of her in our travels there. Ms. Levingston was a strong, friendly woman who always had a smile and a sense of humor. Peace be with her, her family, and friends.

Kind Regards,

I came to know Louise over the years at Temple Ohabei Shalom. She was a Shabbat morning staple and will be missed. May her every memory be a blessing.

I knew Louise from Temple Ohabei Shalom, through friends: Steve, Mark & Judy. How amazing to see her even within the past year- playing music in Lexington Bicentennial Band and going to dinner afterwards. She was amazing. Rest in peace, Louise. Will miss your
great qualities you possessed.

My day was always complete when I was given a nod of approval by Louise for doing a good clean up job at ALL areas around the Lake. But none more lovingly than her magical cove area. She was a really wonderful person who took the time to give of her time whenever asked. Her marker in the Cove was selected by her way back in 1982 and even though we tried to talk her out of it - she just loved the shape and design. So Louise - may you finally rest in peace. You are a true legend!

It's an understatement to say that Louise Levingston was a character. But she truly defined the word, with her outspoken nature, vintage cars, German Shepard Julie and her many cats. Her back yard at times resembled a soda can recycle outlet. She was an accomplished trumpet player.
Louise was a way ahead of her time environmentalist. For her devotion to maintaining the Crystal Lake cove in her neighborhood, it was named in her honor in 1982. Her philosophies were sometimes hard for me to follow, but when it came to the Cove, we always saw eye-to-eye. We informally identified ourselves as the Friends of Crystal Lake in the mid 1990's and in 2008 when this organization became official, despite her failing health, Louise was there to lend her support.
I will fondly remember Louise's sense of humor, energy and our 30+ years of friendship. She was a great neighbor and an inspiring person.
