Margrette Zuleika Lynch

I meet Peggy through my Mother Dalphna Barnes. I always loved Peggy and loved going to her house. She always made me feel so special. We visited with her when she would come to Houston and then when we moved to the Austin area we saw a little more of her. She would call my Mother from time to time and they would have such a great visist. I was always the driver and I loved her giving me directions around Austin. She knew all of the landmarks and short cuts and how to get anywhere. The foundest memory I have of her was the time she left her hairspray and comb in the car. She was in a panic, but did alright without it one day. I mailed it to her. I have never been able to wear heels and would always love seeing her swollen feet pushed down in her heels. One time she asked me to cook a meal for a friend. I cooked brisket and fixings and she raved about that everytime we heard from her. I told her that I would assist her with the meetings that she had in Austin a few years ago, but I never got the chance. Her voice and smile and gentle kiss on the cheek will live on forever in my heart. RIP my friend.

Peggy and Colonel Lynch were my neighbors for about ten years. We walked and talked and were officers in Austin's first National League of American Pen Women organization. She was sweet, thoughtful, brilliant, inspiring and a very good friend. We shall all miss her

I first met Peggy at one of her PITA meetings right before my mother died in 2004. I was a totally nervous wreck about sharing my work, and Peggy was such an Encourager Extraordinaire. ALWAYS a hug, ALWAYS a positive way of thinking...a lot like my mom in that respect. I treasured her vitality and her can-do spirit AND her love of poetry. My regret is that I didn't spend more time with her. She had invited me to visit when she lived in San Antonio. I was looking forward to a carpool ride with her to last fall's PST banquet, thinking what a treat that would be...and then she couldn't go.

The last time I saw her, I got that "ALWAYS" hug, and I can still hear her raspy voice saying "We're all so proud of you." Those are good words to cling to now. I'll be looking for ways to encourage others, as she did.

My heartfelt sympathy is with her family now.

Sincerely,
Nancy Fierstien

What a vibrant soul and totally generous, unique, wonderful and powerful woman who I had the great pleasure to spend so much time with in the last years of her life. She could totally take care of herself and the rest of us up until the last week of her life. I am in awe of her many accomplishments and I pray that her transition into the next realm went smoothly! Love Love ...
