I first met Peggy at one of her PITA meetings right before my mother died in 2004. I was a totally nervous wreck about sharing my work, and Peggy was such an Encourager Extraordinaire. ALWAYS a hug, ALWAYS a positive way of thinking...a lot like my mom in that respect. I treasured her vitality and her can-do spirit AND her love of poetry. My regret is that I didn't spend more time with her. She had invited me to visit when she lived in San Antonio. I was looking forward to a carpool ride with her to last fall's PST banquet, thinking what a treat that would be...and then she couldn't go.
The last time I saw her, I got that "ALWAYS" hug, and I can still hear her raspy voice saying "We're all so proud of you." Those are good words to cling to now. I'll be looking for ways to encourage others, as she did.
My heartfelt sympathy is with her family now.
Sincerely,
Nancy Fierstien
