Dear Friends,

My annual Christmas card came back marked "unable to forward" this year. I just received it in yesterday's mail after coming back from my own mother's funeral in Ohio. I got online and found this obituary. I'm sorry to send such an impersonal message via the internet. A hand written note would have been so much nicer, but I don't have a new address. The message in my Christmas card this year was signed "Thinking of you with fond memories." That much I will always have. Your mom (and dad) were very dear to me and Anna, and served as substitute parents and grandparents since our family was two hours away. I first met your mom when she came out of the house one day and walked into the middle of the street and hugged me. She introduced herself and told me that she had missed watching me put Anna on the bus for a week of preschool. She told me that she loved watching me wave at Anna every morning until the bus disappeared. The week Anna was sick, she missed our daily ritual, and when it resumed, she came out to introduce herself. We became instant friends. She was the neighborhood grandma for all the kids, and Anna and I were so fond of her. Please give our love and condolences to your dad.

We have so many fond memories of the many Christmas Eve services at First United Methodist Church. The Allread family and the Moore family in the third pew from the front and the Dorris family not far behind! Precious time spent catching up on families and watching Ms. Erin grow into a beautiful young woman. We were so touched that Erin made a special effort to greet us personally at the church and we could share our tears. We love you all. May God give you comfort and peace. Dear Friends, We want to express our sincere sympathy to all of you. We will miss Martha very much at the 531st army reunion. She was a joy to be with. It won't be the same without her. We send our Love and Prayers.

Martha was my neighbor for 16 years. She was like a mother to me. Always there to give me advice. She was a wonderful cook and often invited me over for meals. I will never forget her kindness and her laugh. She had the netatest southern accent. My sympathy goes out to Tom, and the girls, husbands and grandaughter.
