My precious uncle is gone from this earth, but he will forever reside in my heart.

Love and prayers to Anita, Kaye and Eddie.

I met Mel in the 1960s when I was sort of a fixture in his house as a friend of Tony and Bobby Smith. The whole family was always a delight to be around...Eddie, Anita, Terry, Lisha, Kay, and of course Marge. I was one of many friends invited in that warm house. I don't think Mel ever knew a stranger. He was a big, strong man - yet sensitive, compasionate, and understanding. I will never forget him or his loving family. Our friendship was truly an honor.

Melvin and I were on the front line in Korea together. We called him Moose in Korea. Melvin and I were both wounded within a day of each other and ended up in a hospital in Tague, Korea. We were there for about a month and since we wanted to stay together were sent to a Signal Corp. company in Wonju, Korea. I've known Moose for 60 years and although we have not seen each other for 59 years we would talk on the phone about four times a year. Melvin was one of the good guys. His passing has left a emptiness in my heart. It feels like the end of an era. I miss him.

I am so sorry about Uncle Eugene's passing. He was a wonderful, wonderful, comical man. We know he is in heaven and that we will see him again. You were blessed to have him as father.

I am so sorry to hear of Melvin's passing. He was one of the sweetest, kindest men I ever had the honor and pleasure of knowing. He had a quick wit and the most wonderful smile. I met him over 30 years ago when I first started working in the construction field. He was a good friend and I will truly miss him. My thoughts and prayers are with the family. Melvin was a great person.
