Mike and Cynthia McLelland

April 16, 2013
Dear Nathan,

My heart is very sad and heavy, and my deepest heartfelt sympathy, thoughts, and prayers go out to you, your sister, and all of your extended family in this time of your tragic loss. So glad that I had the opportunity to see the memorial and attend the funeral service to speak to you.

I was fortunate enough to call Mike and Cynthia McLelland my friends. We attended church together, were in the same Sunday school class, and I saw them often at various functions when we all lived in Terrell. My son, Justin and I also had the opportunity of going on a FUMC-Terrell ski trip with Mike, Cynthia, and Nathan back in January 2006. Being able to room with Mike and Cynthia where we stayed, I got to know them even better. How I enjoyed our meals and card games together!

She told me when they met and found each other, they knew from the beginning that they were "soul mates" and meant to be together forever. They were both so honest, and one thing I will always remember that she taught me was "to not worry so much about what other people think."

They were two of the nicest, funniest, loveliest people I've ever known. Rest in peace my dear friends...you will be greatly missed.

My heartfelt condolences to both families. I was blessed to have known Cynthia as my employer at Corpus Christi State School. May our Lord continue to be with you.

The world will not be the same without Mike & Cynthia. We were blessed to know them during their time on earth. We give our sincere condolences to the family. I watched the memorial online, as we were readying to head out of town. A fitting tribute to such wonderful Christian people. Prayers for all, touched by this tragedy.

I spent a memorable evening with Mike & Cynthia at the Corpus Prosecutors' Annual. We sat close to the water for dinner, and just had the best time! I just fell in love with both of them; beautiful people, who were so deeply in love with each other. At the next Annual, on Padre, I looked for them every day, and asked everyone if they'd seen Kaufman County. Finally, I checked the registration list, and they weren't present. "Next year", I thought to myself, "Next year". They really were so exceptional, so vital, such a joy to be with...

I wish I had words to express what I feel. I've cried many tears. The Memorial Service was worthy of them, really beautiful. ( I was the ADA from Taylor County with the black cane. ) The service was incredibly moving. You who spoke, especially the children, gave a great comfort and strength to all who attended. You were noble, brave, and shining examples of your parents' values.

May God bless and comfort you in this horrible time.

All respect, and love to all of you who grieve,
Etta Warman
