In Loving Memory of Aunt Opal,
I can see her smiling face and this reminded me of her...

I’d like the memory of me to be a happy one, I’d like to leave an afterglow of smiles when life is done. I’d like to leave an echo, whispering softly down the ways, of happy times and laughing times and bright and sunny days. I’d like the tears of those who grieve, to dry before the sun, of happy memories that I leave behind when day is done.

I lost one of the biggest influences in my life. A woman who helped shape me in to the person I am today. She was a hero and an amazing woman. I will always remember her and cherish her. I love you Grandma and will miss you

Opal was my mother-in-law and friend. I met her when I was 17 and she welcomed me into her home and family with open arms and big hug ...I will never forget that. She also cared for our children when they were young and it was so comforting to know that when I went to work that my children were with someone that loved them. She is such a big part of who my children are today. I have so many fond memories...but I guess the ones that I remember the most are in her kitchen where we would talk while she cooked and during those times she would show me a recipe, share stories and we would just talk about so many things...but one of my favorite moments in her kitchen is when I walked in after work and she was making chicken and dumplings and she had a chair at the counter and she was letting the grand kids help her cut and drop the dumplings. I loved her with all my heart and I will truly miss our special times in her kitchen.
