As a youngster growing up I lived close to Uncle Raymond and saw him often. He was always game for fun – bike riding in Forest Park, washing cars and fast driving. It never seemed like Uncle Raymond mixed and pleasure. When he worked, he worked hard and when he played, he played hard. I worked for him at Empire Typewriter for one summer and to watch him operate was like watching a circus with multiple rings and Uncle Raymond in the middle. He would be on 2 to 3 phones at once, at the same time telling the guys which boxes to pull off the shelf and dealing with walk in’s. He was a one man show and pulled it off well.

His love of his family, Aunt Vivien and the girls was paramount. Adventurous he was and would never hesitate to take long auto trips, with the girls in the back of the station wagon on a mattress.

The brothers and their wives were his extended family. Hardly a week would go by when they would all get together – going out for dinner, playing baggamon, gathering for holidays. Rarely, if ever, do I recall Uncle Raymond being critical of any of his brothers. He loved them all.

He was the last of the Benet brothers – they were all so special. Certainly, I will always have fond memories of Uncle Raymond. Be at peace.

Love,

Alan

Dear Benet Family,
I looked through the pictures and realized how adventurous your parents have been. The story of Raymond's life was inspiring. I hope to have some adventures just as Vivian and Raymond have had. What pizzaz! Again, my condolences. Sue Ohnstad

I will always remember Mr. Benet's laugh and quick wit. He always tried to make people smile. He truly adored his wife and family. I will miss him.
