Bob Olive was a friend of mine in high school. I saw most of him with another buddy, Art Toor. That smile of Bob was everyone's first impression of Bob. Where did it come from? I learn here that he was close to his father. I bet that was the magic ingredient.
Bob was never the pile-driving, get ahead, win at any cost sort of fellow. It's easy to imagine that he was a wonderful cop, and a great detective. In a different world he would have been the Secretary of Defense. A great asset to any social institution.
I left the area after high school or I would have seen more of Bob. The rest of the writers here were indeed fortunate to have Bob Olive in your lives.
I enjoyed knowing Bob when we lived at Upland Hills. He was a fun fellow to play golf with. I especially enjoyed talking with him in his garage about woodworking and learning about the latest woodworking tools he had acquired. He was an accomplished woodworker. My condolences to Clarice.
I played a lot of golf with Bob over the years. He was a fine golfer and a better man. RIP Robert.
A true gentleman golfer! He will be missed.
I will really miss you Bob. You were a generous and fun loving guy. Always with a smile, being around you was a real joy. The Upland Hills Men's club was better club because of your presence. God Bless You.
