My thoughts and prayers to the Roger's family. As a member of his graduating class, I knew Roger as a man of character and kindess. RIP Roger... you will be missed by all.
Mr. Montgomery was hands-down my favorite umpire when I coached for Heath. I always enjoyed our chats between innings, before/after the games. What a nice man with a great smile.
To the family: I am incredibly sorry for your loss.
Dear Sheri, Joe, and Mitch, The tributes already online express the feelings of many. So many stories to keep you all laughing for years. Steve and I really do not remember not having Roger and his family in our lives. He was so dear to our family and memories that we HAVE and will last for many lifetimes. We double dated with him and then lived beside him when we were first married. When we had a family he was coach, teacher, ump, and friend to them. I worked with you and Glen for Coach Decola at the Johnstown Pool. Johnstown was a great place to grow up and have friends for a lifetime. Steve worked with you at Emil's along with your Mom. You gave Steve your football number and as fate would have it our grandson plays football along side your son, Mitch. We could go on and on. Thanks Roger, we all miss you already. Sincerely, Steve and Julie Atwood
So very sorry for your loss. We always enjoyed Roger as an official at our Volleyball games. He was alway kind but I especially loved his smile when a parent would try to argue one of his calls! Great person and will be sadly missed this season.
The athletes of Licking County lost a great and fair man and umpire. Roger always had a huge smile on his face and felt like family when he umpired our games. He will be greatly missed by many. Be "consistent" big guy.
