The Final Salute

“Brothers in Arms”, Military men and women down through the centuries, have traditionally exchanged “Hand Salutes” as a sign of recognition and as a way to render courtesy and respect one to another.

This “Hand Salute” is the last that we shall render to Ronald Estes Jones our “Brother-in-Arms”. To his family it symbolizes the love and respect that we have for “Jones”. And to “Jones” it is rendered as a symbol of honor and gratitude to thank him for the devoted and selfless service he rendered to his country during while serving in the U.S. Air Force. “Jones”, we commend you for your honorable service. You are a true patriot, who served with honor and distinction. You upheld the finest qualities of an American patriot warrior: courage, commitment, generosity, sacrifice, love and devotion to family and country. You were a true friend. We bid you a sad farewell. You will be dearly missed from among our ranks. Be at Ease. Rest in Peace.

On behalf of the 1,261 military veteran Legionnaires of Lowe-McFarlane Post 14 of the American Legion and the 233 veterans of VFW Post 2238 in Shreveport, Louisiana, we extend our sympathies and our condolences to “Jones”'s family and loved ones.

Having known Jones for 29 years, I am missing him. Best friends ! We always celebrated Valentine's Day together and we will miss that! Jones had such a booming voice. Sara knows we are there for her.

I am so sorry I had a bad email address. I am so sadden to hear of Ron's passing. He was one of my best friends throughout USAF Pilot Training. Ron kept you on your toes even when you didn't want to be. God speed my ole friend we are all not so far back in "Trail". I thought the world of Ron and you too Sara. May God pass his blessing on to the family that he loved so dearly. If anyone sees him tell him Lt. Cole will see him later. Jim Cole 56U

Ron was a true friend with a warm heart. I remember studying the operators manuals with Ron when we were at Webb. He tried to show me how to fish in Texas ---something this old South Dakota guy had never had much exprience at. My most heartfelt condolences to the family at the loss of Ron
