I worked for Mr. Shiner at the Renaissance Center both as a Security Officer and for a a year as an Investigator for the Seaway Agency. I learned a lot from Mr. Shiner. Mostly I learned about leadership for he was an excellent leader and cared about people.

Ron Shiner was one of my favorite bosses while I worked for the Detroit Police Department. He always cared about his people as people. Some of the things I learned from him are what I now use as Chief of Police in Walker. My condolences to his family at this difficult time. Catherine Garcia-Lindstrom

I enjoyed working with Ron at the Renaissance Center. He was a well respected gentlemen, that knew how to do a very difficult job. I was saddened to learn of his passing. May all his family and friends take comfort in knowing that he is safely in the hands of the Lord.

Ron was my supervisor at TMU. I remember Saturday morning training drills, in all weather, with Ron making sure that every member knew his role and executed it flawlessly. His motives were simple - to deliver the police service, and to make sure each one of us was skilled enough to protect ourselves. I was inspired by his passion for his troops and have taken that lesson forward. A mark of a man is the lessons one learns from him. I learned a lot from Ron about law enforcement and about living life. He was a good boss and a good man.
