Ron Still was a dear friend of mine and an old friend of my parents, Eddie and Bessie Kubenka. I personally witnessed his love of God, Family and Country.
My dad had been in the hospital/rehab since 6/10/12. Ron visited almost every day. Before he left, he always prayed with my dad. He came early on Sundays but not before he and Sue went to 8:00am mass. On 8/8/12, Ron came to visit my dad at home. Daddy said to him, "Ron come in and have a seat." Then daddy slumped over and had a severe stoke. Ron took daddy's blood pressure and told my mom to call 911. Ron called and let me know the situation. He took my mom to the NE Meth ER and conferred with the doctors and kept my brother and me posted by phone. They transferred daddy to the Methodist hospital at the medicial center. Ron took my mom there and stayed with her until I arrived at 10:30 pm. I will never forget his kindness and love for my parents.
Ron loved his family. He spoke of Sue, Ann, Mary and Tommy all of the time. He was so very proud of his children and grandchildren.
I had the privelege of attending the VFW 911 ceremony this year. Ron took special care and attention to make sure everything was exactly how he wanted it.
He was a special, caring person. He was my hero.
