Sallie was born on January 19, 1947, in Florence, SC, to the late John Munford and Elizabeth Sockwell Scott. She sang in the chancel choir and served as an elder at both St. Andrews Presbyterian Church and Grace Community Church in Raleigh, NC. Before her passing, she found a spiritual home at North Raleigh United Methodist.
Sallie was the recipient of numerous awards during her 34 years at IBM as an engineer, analyst, and executive. After retiring, she worked for a small start-up company before establishing her own business out of her home for Jockey Person-to-Person.
She is survived by her husband of 34 years, Richard C. Matlack, Jr., of Wake Forest, NC; her daughter, Allison Matlack Pranger, of Raleigh, NC; and her brother, John Munford Scott, Jr., and his wife, Lyllian, of Florence, SC.
A celebration of her life will be held at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, 7506 Falls of the Neuse Rd., Raleigh, NC, 27615, on Saturday, October 29 at 2 p.m. Her family will receive friends at a reception immediately following the service.
