It was indeed my honor to have known Mr. Sam. He was a mentor and a friend. He will be missed my many.
Sam, Jr and Grandma Gail helped me raise my children. They took care of them until they started school while I had to work. They have had a huge influence on many , many children over the years. Brad even went on vacations with them. Sam, Jr love to tell the story of Brad with a doll Brad called Baby Jane. We all love Sam, Jr and Grandma Gail for they were like a bonus set of grandparents. May Gail, Ellen, Ann, and Jami found peace and comfort knowing that he was deeply loved.
So very sorry for the loss of your beloved grandfather, father, and husband. May you find comfort in the knowledge that he is with his Lord. You will always have wonderful memories of his amazing life. God bless all of you!
All my best wishes and cotinued friendship
Some of my earliest memories of our neighbors: "Miss Gail & Sam, Jr." Ellen and I would be playing in the driveway and Mr. Gurganus would drive up from work and she would run to greet him. I still remember the look on his face. He was such a genuinely kind soft-spoken gentleman. I'm sure there's a fine Edenton Street reunion with his parents and friends that went on ahead. Love and my deepest sympathies to the neighbors of my heart.
