Steve came into our lives in April last year, my wife's long lost dad who she found for the 1st time in her life. We never imagined this guy from the other side of the water would be so friendly, modest and loving. It may have only been just over a year that we knew you but during that time you performed your role as a new dad and grandpa better than we could ever have imagined.

I'm so sorry to all the amazing people we met this week and Steve leaves us with the greatest story, and memories that will last forever.

A truly inspirational man that will be dearly missed.

My sincere condolences to this entire family. I met Steve through his wonderful wife Kris who is a dear friend of mine. Everyday for fourteen months Steve shared his home and his wife with me and we went through nursing school. Very nice man- every evening he would have a story for me from books, music, etc. . . You will truly be missed. To Kris I am praying for youeveryday. May God continues to heal your heart during this difficult time. Always remember you are not alone reach out and grab Gods healing hands. I love you dearly. Rest in peace Steve.

Not many people are lucky enough to have a man come into their life and treat you as their own blood even when you're not. I was one of the few. I was a little skeptical about Steve when he first became a part of our family years ago, but I grew to love him. Although I never called him grandpa, that's exactly what he was to me. I can distinctly remember all the stages we went through getting comfortable with each other. Our hellos became more familiar and warm, our hugs went from a quick pat on the back to a tight squeeze. You supported me through every step in my crazed Johnny Depp lover phase with all the Johnny t-shirts and movies I desired. And you were there when I got in my first car accident to give me the money to get it painted. We spent hours in your library talking about the newest movies and computer programs you loved. And even though I wasn't interested in that stuff I just loved the light in your eyes when you talked about something you love. You were the most loving and giving man I have met. I'm so thankful to have known you. And as I sit in your perfectly landscaped backyard writing this, it reminds me of all the beauty and intelligence you brought to this world. You were the strongest man I know and you left us too early. But you also left me with a full collection of French CDs and a lifetime of memories. I love you so much Steve. Thank you for accepting me and loving me like your own. Rest in Peace

A Sad Farewell - Author Unknown

Sad and lonely days have passed
since our great sorrow fell
The grief that we received that day,
no one can ever tell.
God gave us strength to meet it,
and courage to bear the blow.
For what it meant to lose you,
no one will ever know.
It's lonely here without you,
we miss you more each day.
For life is not the same to us,
since you were called away.
You bade us not a last farewell,
nor even said good-bye.
You were gone before we knew it,
and only God knows why.
It broke our hearts to lose you,
but you did not go alone.
For part of us went with you,
the night God called you home.
