I was feeling nostalgic and was looking up people from my college days.I was shocked to find that an old friend and contemporary had past away. I have not seen him it over 40 years. He was a nice caring man. I wish I had kept in touch.
Mr. Obrecht was the only teacher that I've had that really opened my eyes when it came to literature. I wish I would have kept up with him once I graduated. Thank you Mr. Obrecht, you will be remembered.
Mr. Obrecht was a kind man and a phenomenal teacher and I am deeply saddened to hear of his passing. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family.
So very saddened by your death, but so thankful what you did in life. You were such a kind and generous teacher for which I will remain forever grateful. I was one of the many students that graced your classes. You were the kind of teacher that everyone needs in their life at some point; someone who is always on their side and takes the time to listen. You were the second teacher at Leon to tell me I had a gift in writing and I'll never, ever forget that. I appreciated getting to spend my mornings in your class 1st period. I wasn't the most awake student, but I think you expected that of our entire class. We had great fun and ALL your students loved you. I remember graduation day and running into you outside of the Civic Center and being able to give you a hug and tell you thanks for everything. So I say it again, "Thanks for EVERYTHING!" Debra Jones, Leon High School Class of 1987
I have thought of Mr. Obrecht so many times over the years. I wish I had taken the time to let him know how much. Any time anyone brought up favorite teachers, I would tell them about Mr. Obrecht. I was lucky enough to have him for two years at Leon. He was absolutely the best teacher I ever had and will always remember him with respect and admiration. I wish I could tell him myself... He will be missed. What a contribution he made to this world!
