Vera S. Hannigan 1932 - 2011

Vera S. Hannigan

December 17, 2011
Vera and I worked and sat in close proximity to each other several years ago at EPA. She quickly became my most valued emotional supporter during the health trials I was having with my elderly father. She is one of the best, most honorable, kind yet strong and intelligent individuals that I have met during my long career. She's been in my thoughts and prayers since I've heard of her illness.

I will miss her always. I will also remember the outrageous, JOYOUS, laugh out loud times we've shared. We both shared the high and low lights of our lives as well as her love and devotion to John and the kids and grandkids.

She lived a wonderful life and I feel blessed to have known her. I'll always remember her fondly and think of her whenever I hear the soundtrack from "O Brother Where Art Thou". From her example, I've learned much about life, love and dedication.

Please convey our thoughts and prayers to her family.

Vera was my first friend I met when we moved to Reston, back in 1978. We were involved with every GOP campaign from then on and oh, what fun we had together. Vera and John loved their country and their community. She was a wonderful person and a wonderful friend. We shall miss her greatly.

My heartfelt sympathy goes out to the Hannigan Family. Vera was truly a wonderful person and always available to provide wise counsel towards many topics.

We shared many good times with Vera (and John) over the years, worked together in many political campaigns, the Greater Reston Republican Club, broke bread often, played Trivial Pursuit -- lots of great memories. She was a beautiful "Lady" in every sense of the word. May your memories of Vera comfort you at this sad time.

Dave and I agree that Vera was a wonderful, unique, classy, intelligent woman with a great sense of humor. We will miss her more than words can say. Dave and Chris Broyer
